Spherical Aberration and the Eye
The latest episode of Ophthalmology Against The Rule (OATR) is out now! Dr Nick Andrew and I take a deep dive into spherical aberration and the eye (recorded live in China!)
Spherical aberration is a term that is often used especially in relation to intraocular lens designs giving added range of vision but the underlying mechanism is rarely discussed. We look at how positive and negative spherical aberration affect vision, who may benefit, and how certain lenses used in cataract and lens exchange surgeries can harness these effects. Spherical aberration is increasingly important in both an ophthalmology and optometry setting so we hope this episode sheds some aberration free light on the topic for our listeners.
It’s been so long between episodes that we had a lot to catch up on. You’ll notice this is a much longer episode than usual but we hope you’ll appreciate our chats about hot topics in the eye world, the mailbag and so much more. Please let us know what you think.
